Volunteering at a psychiatric hospital in Bali!
My Travel Story
What will I be doing?
During my time in Bali I will spend my mornings volunteering at a local psychiatric hospital where I will work with patients at different stages of recovery from mental health issues. During the afternoons I will spend my time at different projects including working closely with children with special needs, teaching English to locals and local children's projects. I will be living with a local family during the week and left to explore on the weekends.
Why is this important to me?
With mental health being a close topic to my heart, it is important for me that I am able to help others, where mental health treatments are not currently well-developed. This placement will allow me to develop skills working with mental health patients and children with disabilities which is relevant for my future career plan as a clinical psychologist.
How can you help?
During my placement I have to provide all resources for any tasks and activities I want to organise with the patients. I also have to pay for placement fees, flights, visas, transportation costs in Bali and food and accomodation on the weekends. Although this is an amazing opportunity that I am not willing to miss out on, the costs are stacking up quickly. I would be immensely grateful to any donations you could give for these causes, no matter how small as every little will help! I am hoping to use most of the donations for resources and materials that I can use with the patients in the different projects.
