My Travel Story

"Volunteering is a human act that gives us a feeling of satisfaction because we contribute to the development of our society. Volunteering comes in various forms, including the simple things that we do in the community on a daily basis, which make a big difference, such as helping someone carry their heavy shopping bags, or cleaning garbage off the street."

The desire to volunteer has been burning in me for years, and I don't want to suppress it, I want to realize it. My motto, which I have been following for years, is probably already known to everyone, "be the change you want to see in the world." This year I want to make it happen, I want to initiate the biggest change in myself, which will help others and, I hope, make life more beautiful for at least a few children in Africa. The first trip to Africa awakened feelings in me that I didn't know how to deal with at first. When I saw those children, who never took the smile off their little faces, at first, I felt sorry for them. My heart broke into a thousand pieces. Various questions were running through my head, why is life unfair? Why do some have everything and others nothing? Why did they deserve to live this life and in these conditions? But then I stopped, for a second, and realized that those children should feel sorry for us. Those of us who don't know how to appreciate life, and we constantly complain. Us, who are never satisfied with anything or grateful enough. Us, who forgot to look for happiness in small things. Us, who have forgotten how much one smile can give you love, and make your heart warm. Those children are happy with what they have. Those children awakened the desire in me not only to help them, but also to help myself. To find my place in the world, and to finally feel that I belong somewhere.
