I Want To Go Home
My Travel Story
Hello, I'm Davia, and Westmoreland, Jamaica, has always been home to me. It’s where my family built our life, our memories, and our sense of stability. When Hurricane Melissa was approaching, my family and I had to make the difficult decision to leave and stay with relatives in Kingston for safety. At the time, we believed we would return once the danger passed. Unfortunately, after the hurricane, there was nothing for us to go back to.
We are deeply grateful to our relatives for taking us in, but we cannot stay with them forever. My parents’ main focus right now is rebuilding our home so we can return to Westmoreland and begin again. I want to help in any way I can, which is why I’m trying to create a small source of income for myself instead of adding more pressure to them. I chose to link my Amazon wishlist because, during the chaos of the hurricane and relocation, we lost the only bank card in our household. The items on the list are things I plan to resell to earn extra income, allowing my parents to focus fully on rebuilding our home. I’m also seeking help to replace my phone screen, which was damaged during the hurricane and is something I rely on daily for communication and managing this small business effort.
Any support, whether through my wishlist or simply sharing my story, means more than words can express. It’s not just about items; it’s about helping us take meaningful steps toward stability and, most importantly, going back home.
