Help Leah! Make her way to help animals!
My Travel Story
I am a 17 year old girl, who loves working with animals. I have experience of working with horses and shetland ponies. I gained experience from a 1 week camp called Teen Ranch. In 2016/2017 I worked with the horses doing:
- Cantering
- Riding
- Jumps
- Mucking up
I really enjoyed the experience there, I learned alot of new skills, how to ride properly, and how to jump on and off. I am really interested in Spain because I want to broaden my vision of the world and be independent when i'm travelling and meet new people there. Also during my free-time I want to go explore Malaga and Atajate. Especially the Animal Park!
During the two weeks that I am there, I will be joining other young people looking after the horses, improving the sanctuary and promoting the equine welfare whilst working on my natural horsemanship skills with a project horse.
Week 1, I would be going through the basics of how the sanctuary operates, routines, and horses names and a feel of their characters. I will then choose a horse or two to work with and start to get to know them better through training sessions and my own practise.
Week 2, I would then have an idea of the santuary's basic principles and techniques they use to train and handle horses. I will start to understand how effective my body language is, and understand the horse through it, and how this is effected by different characteristics and personalities.
