This isn’t just a vacation or a casual visit. It’s about finally closing a ten-year gap filled with longing, change, and distance. It’s about reconnecting with someone I love and miss deeply, and creating the kind of memories we’ve both been dreaming about for a long time.
The Story Behind the Distance
When I was younger, my father and I used to be close. He’s someone I looked up to — someone whose presence made me feel safe and supported. But as life often does, it threw unexpected obstacles in our way. For reasons beyond our control, we ended up in different parts of the world. He moved to Los Angeles, and I stayed behind, building my life and dealing with everything that came with growing up apart from a parent.
We stayed in contact as best we could — with video calls, birthday messages, and the occasional photo update — but deep down, we both knew that it wasn’t the same. We missed a decade of hugs, laughter, eye contact, and quiet moments spent side by side. A decade of birthdays, holidays, and everyday life that we didn’t get to share.
