My Travel Story
I am Jaia. Simply a spiritual being in human form, navigating life on Earth. 2023 turned out to be wildly transformational and was the first year I left my hometown of Los Angeles and I set out to find myself, mainly, and what this world had to show me. I have been away for almost six months now and I don't ever see myself going back permanently. [I even recently gave away my packed storage unit, with all my wordly possessions, to charity!] I honestly didn't know this is where I'd be when I first set out, but I have learned to go with the flow and see what beauty unfolds.
A little background on why I decided to take this huge leap of faith: I was born and raised in LA as a preacher's kid and I don't think I need to give too much detail for most of you to understand what eighteen years of heavy religious indoctrination can do to a young adult. Fast forward to late 2012 when I was twenty-five and arrested naked and hallucinating, and had my first awakening. Years of drug abuse following mutliple sexual assaults and little support, led me down a path that was truly unfavorable, but necessary. Through it all, my suffering led me to a place where I could regain the relationship to god (I call the Universe) I had gievn up some years prior. I spent the next decade putting my life back together and becoming a motivational speaker for incarcerated women and at-risk foster youth, all while competing in various athletic outlets, managing multiple gym locations, and co-owning wellness businesses.
But last year [2023] things came to a halt. They had been gradually halting for years, but I had finally reached a breaking point. I needed to truly focus on my own healing. I was getting deeper and deeper into psychedelic and psychotherapy healing and it was altering my entire world around me. My friends no longer fit, my parents and sister were asked to leave my life the year before, work wasn't really satisfying anymore, and I felt alone and a bit lost. I had already been taking losses in my business, which was just me and a handful of private clients at that point, but then those few clients I had, started to leave too. It left me wanting something new.
I had been talking to my therapist about traveling for almost a year. Then finally in June 2023, I did it. I had moved out of my apartment back in April and kind of floated from place to place with my giant mastiff, Kodak. So I drove to Joshua Tree, CA and spent four amazing days there. It left a mark on me. So much so, that I only lasted two weeks back in LA before I left for good. I had about $450 dollars to my name, a carry-on sized luggage with some clothes, and my big baby Kodak. We hit the road with no real plan.
It turned out to be challenging, but amazing, beautiful, and rewarding. I was able to manifest things that I needed, as I needed them, and received unexpected support from my parents for quite a while. We made it all the way up the Pacific coast to Canada to visit a friend, then down and across the US to the gulf coast of Mississippi, where we've been since August.
We had originally planned to stay only a few weeks, but as my friend was gearing up for her own three-month road trip, I made the decision to house-sit through the storm season. I didn't anticipate what happened in those three months, but it's what the Universe had planned for me.. I ended up losing my car to repossession in early December, for past-due payments. Then as money dwindled down and support dried up, I was on the verge of losing my storage unit that had all my possessions worth quite a bit of money. But something was healing inside of me and I was being guided to let go of my past life. Leaving California wasn't the only thing I was meant to leave behind, but literally everything. So I came to peace with losing the car and worked out a training deal with my friend for housing until the Spring. Then I called up my friend who works with various charities in LA county and told her to go get everything from my storage unit and donate it to her charities. I found peace with that chapter closing.
I have given you this full [long] story to paint a picture of where I've been and where I am headed, and why I need your help. I have decided that what I want is to continue traveling, both for personal healing and for research. I love meeting new people and experiencing new places. And I'm also looking for a place to call home. A place where I can eventually buy land, build a self-sufficient homestead, and develop my spiritual talents and services to offer the world, for free. I believe in creating a world where money is not a barrier between the life we are living and the life we want to live, but since we're not there yet, I'll need money to get started. I believe there are other people out there who also have this vision and maybe have money they want to invest in people like me, so we can change the world we see together. I have books [yet to be written] that can help people, in mass, overcome many life adversities from drug addiction, to incarceration, to religious indoctrination, and sexual trauma, and I want to give them away! But I need the pressure of financial instability to be lifted so that my energy is free to create. I need the good karma I have put out into the world to come back to me, so that I can continue healing and traveling and transforming into the being I came to Earth to be. Part of that purpose is to touch the lives of those I meet and leave them feeling more joyous than before we met. I have many healing talents and gifts that I want to offer freely to the world, while traveling and searching for my forever land.
Once the land is purchased and the homestead is built and running, I plan to use the space as a healing retreat venue for people to come and receive healing. Not healing from me, as I can only facilitate and hold space, but I have a vision of offering a welcoming, healing environment with my guidance and healing modalities for all who need rest and renewal in this life.
