My Travel Story

My name is Jess, I'm an EMT/ED tech in an emergency room. I've been wanting to volunteer abroad for a very long time, but unfortunately cannot afford it and have also been consumed with work during the pandemic. I decided this year was my year to finally do something. My interests are with wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and community medical education. The volunteer service I applied for is with International Volunteer HQ (I'm also interested in another organization for wildlife conservation in South Africa). The fees for two weeks abroad are totaling over $900. I am saving for the volunteer fees, however the plane tickets are totalling over $2,000 and I just don't make enough to afford the fees plus the travel expenses. Any little bit would make such an impact. I've never travelled and would be thrilled to experience volunteering overseas. If anyone has suggestions on other volunteer services abroad please share! I would like to pick the right one and would take any suggestions from those who have experience with other organizations.
