My Travel Story

Hello!




Hello! My name is Annamarie or “Annie” for short, I’m 25 and I’ve been traveling solo since 2021. The reason I’m asking for help with funding my travels feels like a long and complex story so here is the short and sweet version.

All I want to do this year is volunteer. Make $0, spend $0. But I have student loans.




I hustle. I never have traveled on anyone else’s dime. I've always made my own money and figured out a way. I start a new life in a new city, new job, new apartment, new friends. I save, I travel, I save, I travel.




September of 2023, the company I just started working for had some financial troubles and offered a 3 month unpaid leave. Then offered 12 month leave, which I happily took for the opportunity to live and work abroad in my youth. But now, they are in worse financial trouble and pushed another 12 month leave, which I am not financially prepared for because…




Three months ago, I met a boy. Not a boy a man. Someone like me. Logical, hardworking, charismatic, curious, adventurous. We met through mutual friends while both working in Australia. When we met, it was not lightning that would be over in a flash, but more like when you meet a dog and you take it home and you love each other forever. I started traveling with him and I am currently now in Laos, a small country in Southeast Asia. Together we’ve to been to Timor-leste, 4 islands in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia , Thailand, we are currently in Laos, next Cambodia then Vietnam.




Money is running out!

Because … I went to college.

I made the mistake of getting private loans because…before Covid, that was the smart decision. The rates were better and it had better effects for long term financial goals. Now because of Covid, my dad forcefully retired and lost out on a severance package that was his financial security and I can’t re-sign the loan without him on it. Simply, no company will give it to me, I don’t qualify on my own.




For 4 and a half years, I have been solo traveling and never missed a payment of $818.70 a month to not damage me or my dad. That is more than rent.




This next 12 months, with this beautiful French man that I adopted, I want to volunteer on farms in 4 different tbd countries for 3-months each. I can live for even. Work for food and accommodation and give English lessons and haircuts to other travelers for culture expenses. This is all I want. A simple life.

So I’m asking gently for $10,000 ($9,824.40) to put in my bank account and have my loan auto debit. So I can give to communities and learn about cultures and cherish a blossoming love story.
