The Omapaha Himba Village is made up of two villages that work together to maintain and share the traditional culture of the Himba. Visitors should be aware that the Omapaha Himba Village is not a show village - neither is it a human zoo. Visitors should not go there as gawking, pointing tourists. No one likes to feel like they are a spectacle to be gazed at.

The village is a place for cultural exchange where visitors can learn about the Himba people's history, heritage, and way of life with an open mind.

Those who would like to stay longer and learn more about the village can also camp at one of the village's campsites. This is also not the only Himba village that welcomes visitors. The other villages are also found in northern Namibia.

There are many traditional villages around the world where visitors can learn about different cultures. Some are living villages like the Omapaha Himba Village while others like the Oconaluftee Indian Village of the Cherokee, are replica show villages built to resurrect and teach the history and heritage of a people.

I am amazed by how these people live and survive the extremities of life, without external support system. This study will help my thesis on human life and living ways.
