About me

Hello, I'm Fatih, a 21-year-old student and volunteer dedicated to saving dogs in the Balkans. My journey with animals began when I was just a child, always bringing home stray cats and dogs, much to my parents' surprise. My love for animals has only grown stronger over the years, leading me to volunteer with various animal rescue organizations. Currently, I am part of a volunteer program focused on rescuing and rehabilitating stray dogs in Bosnia. Every day, I witness the resilience and spirit of these animals, and it fuels my passion to do more. I believe that every dog deserves a chance to live a happy and healthy life, and with your support, we can make this a reality.

Why the dogs need help?
The Balkans, a region rich in history and culture, faces significant challenges when it comes to animal welfare, particularly for stray dogs. Here are some reasons why the dogs in this region are in extreme need:

1. High Stray Population: The Balkans have a high population of stray dogs due to inadequate spaying and neutering programs. This leads to overpopulation, with many dogs living on the streets without proper care.
2. Lack of Resources: Many areas in the Balkans lack the necessary resources to provide adequate shelter, food, and medical care for stray dogs. This results in many dogs suffering from malnutrition, disease, and injuries.
3.Harsh Conditions: Stray dogs in the Balkans often face harsh weather conditions, from scorching summers to freezing winters, without proper shelter to protect them.
4.Limited Awareness: There is limited awareness and education about animal welfare in some parts of the Balkans. This can lead to neglect and abuse of stray dogs, as well as a lack of support for rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
5. Economic Challenges: Economic difficulties in the region mean that funding for animal welfare is often limited. This makes it challenging for local organizations to provide the necessary care and support for stray dogs.

Why the Balkans?
Focusing on the Balkans is crucial because:

• High Impact: The need is great, and even small contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of many dogs.
• Raising Awareness: By focusing on this region, we can help raise awareness about the plight of stray dogs and promote better animal welfare practices.
Building a Network: Supporting efforts in the Balkans can help build a network of compassionate individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of stray dogs.
Creating Change: By addressing the root causes of the stray dog problem, such as lack of spaying/neutering and education, we can create long-term, sustainable change.
