Hi there! I'm so glad you've stumbled across my fundraiser.
I have been so blessed with the opportunity to volunteer with International Medical Aid as a Physical Therapist's intern for 3 weeks in Mombasa, Kenya during August 2021!

I'm currently in my undergrad at Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas, where I'm majoring in Biology and minoring in Kinesiology. This summer, I will be applying to attend a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, as I will complete my undergrad in Spring of 2022, and hopefully attend a PT school in Fall of 2022.

The internship will consist of a training day that the other interns & I will go to, in order to familiarize ourselves with operations in the hospital we'll be working in, and the responsibilities and expectations as interns. Once training is complete, we will be placed in the second largest hospital in Kenya, working next to Physical Therapists as Medical Aids, assisting them with helping patients and providing therapy.

With this internship, my education will be greatly impacted as I will get to work alongside licensed Physical Therapists, discover new and different ways to provide therapy to those in need, and learn a great amount about the culture and diversity in other parts of the world.

The experiences that I will gain from this internship in Kenya will enable me to have a greater knowledge of the best ways to provide therapy, along with a better understanding and background for interacting with individuals with different backgrounds, life experiences, and outlooks on life.

I am so honored and excited that I have been chosen to go on this once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I can not wait to see all of the things that I will experience, learn, and gain from this internship.
