My Travel Story

by: Laura Gusmanova Start Date: May 19, 2018 - End Date: Jun 24, 2018
Hello everyone!
Thank you for visiting my page! Firstly, let me introduce myself: I'm a 3rd year Civil Engineering student at NU and I want to continue my study by doing master's degree in construction engineering.

Since this is my last summer as a bachelor student I want to spend it wisely. One of the best ways to put my goals into practice is to make research in chosen area. There are so many programs provided worldwide and I was accepted to one of them - SPIKE program (Summer Program of Internship and Korean Exchange) at UNIST which includes both research internship and cultural exchange. I think this internship is best starting point in my research career.

I really passionate about construction engineering, about how people can design and create high rise buildings with fancy shapes by knowing only soil type. My dream is to derive the formula for unbonded concrete beam and put it into SNIP code (local design codes like ACI in USA). Maybe this dream will come true someday, who knows...

There is another one reason why I'm very excited about this internship. I really fall in love with Korean culture, there music, film, the way the talk, live, behave, what they eat and wear, almost everything. Therefore, this trip which was unthinkable for me before may become true with your help.

I'll be grateful for any contribution from your side!
With love,
Laura.
