My Travel Story

Several years ago, I made a decision that changed my life when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  I trained fellow Marines during peacetime how to protect themselves from weapons of mass destruction should they ever see combat.  Through much soul-searching, I have decided to make that military occupation a civilian career path.  I am enrolled into Arizona State University's Master's in Emergency Management and Homeland Security program.  

Through this program I have been offered a one in a lifetime opportunity to study in Israel.  During this 14-day program, I will be learning counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, suicide bomber interdiction, and jihadism.  The itinerary includes, but is not limited to, touring the Old City of Jerusalem, the Church of of the Holy Sepulcher, and seeing the Dead Sea.  This opportunity will allow me to learn first hand about the Middle Eastern culture.  Yes, one can learn quite a bit from books and the Internet, however, that is all information that has passed through the eyes of someone else.  Immersing myself in a completely foreign culture will better prepare me for a career within Homeland Security.  

However, I need help from my friends, family, and even kind hearted strangers.  Please remember that ANY amount you can donate will help take the financial burden from my family.  Every dollar is extremely appreciated!  

I am planning on starting a blog about this journey.  Not just the trip itself, but the preparation and planning that is going into it.  I will update with a link once that is started.
