Madagascar is currently experiencing mass deforestation posing a huge threat to its endemic wildlife. I will working with the organization Opwall by assisting with research to protect the lands diversity. I will work with surrounding communities to make plans for cutting deforestation rates and educating citizens on the importance of wildlife. Together, the other researchers, assistants, and scientists will gain more knowladge on the species that live in the forests. I will also be doing marine life studies to observe the effects of climate on marine mamals and plants. One month will be spent in the forest and two weeks will be spent on sea. The data collected on this trip is essential to protecting the vitality of Madagascar and keeping species from extinction.
