Hello! My name is Clay Ashley and I need your help! I am a 74 year old living here in Gleneden Beach, Oregon and will soon join the ranks of the homeless and insolvent. The causes are diverse as they all stem mainly from a combination of the devastation Covid had on business enterprises and the fallout that finally reached our family and its one financial provider, a school that had years of operator-ship spanning a short list of educational institutions but, now, remains dormant due to hardships brought on by the current financial picture now playing out around the globe.
My reason for asking for assistance is that I provide a beneficial service to many whom are living in assisted-living facilities here in oregon. As I was previously able to provide these services due to my financial resource paying my cost of living, I did so and found much joy and sense of worth as a person doing something helpful and beneficial. My activities involve doing outdoor music performances using backing tracks I developed back in the 1990’s to support my vocal renditions of these ‘golden oldies’ which aren’t heard on any media platform anymore. The important fact is, however, that these selections are near and dear to those in their 70’s and 80’s and I know those hearing them are uplifted from their current state in life as it is for them by the expressions on their faces.
What I am hoping for is sponsorship from anyone out there whom might have an interest in seeing these performances continuing. I don’t have any idea what to ask for because I’ve never done this before and I also don’t know what my worth is and what the ‘market’ will bear. What I do know is that as I am about to lose my home due to failure to pay for it and the past due unpaid county property taxes that will usher it into eventual foreclosure, so I must now do everything possible to see if I can save my sinking ‘ship’.
I would be happy to provide more information on what my performances are like as well as a video I use to reach out to administrators and social activities directors for the the various facilities in my area that introduces me and explains what I do and that the performances are a free service to them by my simple arrival, setup and play for the hour or two I am performing. I am hoping there might be some gentle souls out there that wishes I continue with what I think is a noble gesture in these times of strife and gloom.
