My Travel Story

I am fundraising to spend time and learn about my roots. I am someone who lost their father at 14 years old and with that I lost a lot of valuable time with my family due to petty diagreements that far preceeded my birth. My mother is a citizen of Sweden and this is all I am familiar with. I was raised in rural Mississippi for most of my life, far from my mothers homeland, and that came with its fair share of living disconnected from those around me. One goal I have always had for myself is to connect with my family abroad in Sweden and forge connections that I have always longed for. The opportunity to spend a few months learning from my 80 years old Morfar, ask him about being a computer engineer in a time where silicon was just what kitchen tools were made of and not a notorious California tech sensation. I want to help dictate my Mormor's cookbook so her recipes live in my family far beyond their imagination. Ideally any trips made will help me with my eventual immigration to Sweden, but for now I will try and visit as much as I can.
