My Travel Story

My Nonna (Grandmother) was the most influential person in my life.  I've felt more than a little lost since she passed 10 years ago.  It would mean the world to me to see where she came from.  The village where she grew up and fell in love with my Nonno.  To see the farm she worked at after her mother died and she had to help her younger siblings.  I think it would be like having her back for a moment in time.  I know she wanted to take me but her health was not up to it and neither were my finances.  In the last few months of her life she would tell me stories about war and falling in love with my grandfather and their life before coming to Canada.  When she left Italy I don't think she thought it would be for the last time.  The rest of her family migrated to Australia.  She went to visit when she could and made sure to take my mom and aunt and uncle to meet the family there.  My great grandparents are both buried in Australia and I have my great aunts and uncles and cousins to visit and learn more about the woman I loved the beyond measure.
