My Travel Story

Hello Family, Friends, Colleagues, and Other Influential People in My Life!

I am currently a Dance Education major at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.
I will be studying abroad for 3 weeks in GHANA!! I was accepted into Performing Arts Abroad's Summer Dance and Cultural Immersion in Ghana. While in Ghana, I will experience traditional African culture by living at a dance center with other participants and an African family, who will take me under their wing as one of their own. I will then travel around Ghana with a leading, world-renowned, Ghanaian performing artist as my guide. I will also receive instruction from professional Ghanaian dancers and musicians.

This trip to Ghana will reinvent who I am as an artist, dancer, and dance educator. This trip will allow me to expand my knowledge and share with the people in my community, the knowledge I've learned, during my stay in Ghana. I also love learning dance and art from the perspective of different cultures. I chose this destination as my internship credit for my degree program and because not only will I be learning and experiencing African dance, I will experience everyday life through a different culture. This trip will be a dream come true for me and will change my life forever. I tried my best to cover as much expense as I could on my own.
