My Travel Story

This past summer I had the opportunity to volunteer abroad in Hawaii with the most incredible organization, GIVE Volunteers. While I was there, we did a variety of service projects with local non-profits, including cleaning up over 700 pounds of marine debris in nearby beaches, restoring native forests through clearing invasive species, and building food systems to help those in need. We focused heavily on responsible tourism and education through immersing ourselves in Hawaiian culture. I am so grateful to GIVE Volunteers for giving me the opportunity to understand what it means to be a global citizen.

I am excited to take all that I've learned a step further by volunteering abroad in Thailand and Laos with GIVE in summer of 2022. Our projects will focus on teaching children English in local schools, organic farming, permaculture, and wildlife conservation, including building enclosures to help house animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in Asia. 

GIVE Volunteers has given me an entirely new perspective on life. My eyes have been opened to just a glimpse of what the world has to offer, as well as so many of the global issues I would've otherwise ignored. I will be travelling for a month to Thailand and Laos, and with that comes the expenses of flying, meals and housing accomodations, as well as all of our service projects and excursions. What I love about GIVE is that the majority of our trip fees actually help fund the projects we will be a part of. This means that by you supporting me on this journey, you will also be helping communities who may be less fortunate than ourselves.
