My Travel Story

Hi! My name is Taonga and I am a Zambian international studnet currently studying engineering in Sydney, Australia. I recently heard about IVHQ through my univerity's (WSU) website. It immediately caught my interest and I planned to apply, so i applied for the youth development in Rome, Italy.
Why Rome? I've always though of Italy as a country of; art, fashion, elegance and of course pasta. I've always dreamed of travelling there to see all the amazing sights such as The Colosseum. So, learning that there are kids in need genuinely surprised me because I thought of the country as 'rich' and coming from a thrid world country, I personally have seen many people in need. The most heartbreaking thing about this is that most a vast majority of kids don't get basic necessities that lay at the bare minimum, which is what led me to apply for the youth development program.
In Australia, most people start working at very young age. These are opportunities that not many kids have in Zambia. Seeing people struggle has always made me feel terrible and powerless in the sense that i felt like there is nothing I could do about it. Until now.
During my school breaks I usually plan to work to raise as much pocket money as I can, but after researching particular program, I've decided to do something more meaningful, and possibly life changing. Accademically, this can help me gain 10 credits points which is the equivalent on 1 semester unit. This would exempt me from having to do minors, which can help me achieve my degree faster.
I got accepted into the program and what I am willing to offer these kids is only a fraction of what they deserve, I hope you can help me make an impact
