My Travel Story

by: Amy Guarisco Start Date: Apr 10, 2018 - End Date: Jun 18, 2018
As an International Studies in Asia major, going to Shanghai would be a key factor in taking all that I have learned and applying it  At 6 months old, I was adopted by a single-mother in Hangzhou, China. For year years now, I have hoped to return to where I was born and learn the culture I am ethnically. Each year I want to go, and each year I realize that I am missing a portion of my identity. Going to this study abroad I believe I will be able to find the missing piece to who I am. Without a full self, how can I help others? As I have thought about it, my destined career path is an international lawyer who is able to connect East Asia and America better through understanding of similarities and differences. This is the perfect time for a study abroad with people who are from different backgrounds as me and have similar interests. Understanding of different people and a different culture is the goal of this trip. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I hope to go on this journey.
