Emma's African Adventure
My Travel Story
Why? Because i've been fortunate enough to grow up with things i've needed, even if that means a roof over my head every night. So now I want to make an impact to other peoples lives that are less fortunate.
I will be volunteering for in a local school assisting with teaching, games and sports and also helping with building new classrooms, playgrounds and kitchens.
The children that attend this school live close by on a dump site. The Hilton dump site accomadates 5000 families including children who would not necessarily be able to go to school. This school also provides a hot meal daily, including Saturdays and Sundays. For some of these this is the only meal they would recieve.
These families can live off as little as 80p a day, to put that into perspective that is the price of a single Mars Bar in the UK!
Whilst in Kenya I will be given the chance to go and visit some of the school childrens family homes, where with a couple of pounds I would be able to supply them with ingredients for meals for a few days.
Along with the support of Brightons Students Union I will be fundraising for this trip by hosting cake sales, selling art work, washing cars and many other ideas.
I have decided to do the Bognor 10k to raise money for my trip!
Any support you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Emma.
