My Travel Story

I was raised as the family scapegoat by an abusive, emotionally immature and narcissistic mother, I never was afforded the opportunity to develop into my own person, I lived a role and continued to live this role imposed well into adult hood, I was not allowed to pursue anything that afforded me autonomy or the right to live life on my own terms, due to being made to only please my mother and family, I had no sense of self, I ended up in a marriage with a man that was just like my mother, my purpose was to satisfy his every whim and serve him, I often was demeaned and abused emotionally, physically etc just like my childhood, in 2017 at the age of 47 I finally came across information about family scapegoating and recognized the pattern in my own life, I found a counselor that was also a survivor and began the process of understanding and reclaiming my existence, I had no support system as my entire family went along with what my mother required and treated me like the scapegoat as well, my husband was now scapegoating me and his family was not a source of support, I went to social media and found groups that offered support and resources, but in 2021 I decided to create a support group of my own, I barely understood how to use my FB profile but I took on the task none the less and it was well worth it, today we have close to 10k members, I have left my abusive marriage at 52 and detached from abusive family, I have learned to live with freedom from being the family scapegoat, I am still on my healing path and discovery of self, I support and help others on their journey as well, I always wanted to travel and have some but I think traveling helps me grow and broaden my experiences in life, I learn about myself and others and I also develop self trust & reliance, by suppporting my campaign to travel to most of the National Parks by train and RV, I weill be sharing my journey and encouraging other survivors and people over the age of 50 to live beyond limitations and survival mode, there is life beyond childhood trauma, no matter our age and circumstance, I escaped an abusive marriage, I am no longer a scapegoat, I am a survivor healing and being a beacon on hope on my own journey.
