Singing in Ireland!
My Travel Story
A small group from our treble voices university choir, Canticum Novum, is traveling to Ireland this summer with our mentor, along with additional Aiken singers, to perform under the direction of Dr. Craig Hella Johnson.
This trip will allow us to travel and collaborate with other singers from across the world while learning some of the history of Ireland. Each participant will be able to apply the knowledge and experiences gained from this trip to our future choral and teaching commitments.
This opportunity exceeds our university coursework, and as such we do not have access to scholarship or educational funding. So, we are asking for your help in making our last few payments. You can help by sponsoring: hotel stays, meals, transportation, historical tours. Please, take a moment to review our expenditures and consider how you can support us!
We look forward to your support and to sharing this experience with you all.
Many Blessings to you all.
Breanna Blanton (K-12 education), Danielle Brown (MusEd), Jaliyah Collins (MusEd), Taylor Kovacs (Vocal Performance), and Dr. Keely Rhodes

Introducing Taylor Kovacs
I am working towards a degree in Music Performance while working as a cashier at Chick-fil-A. I have been singing with Canticum Novum for three semesters as a high soprano. We perform many different styles of choral music; ranging from early chant to acapella pop music! Oh, did I mention all the languages we are workin in? French, Italian, Latin, German, Polish, Norwegian, Church Slavonic and English! Phew! ?>
We are looking forward to being able to meet and to sing with the festival choirs while touring beautiful Ireland. Thank you for helping us meet our goals! -
Introducing Danielle Brown
I am currently in the music education program at UofSC Aiken. As you might be able to tell by my photo, I am also serving our country by working in the Army. While I am in school I spend a lot of time studying and practicing. ?>
I may not be 100% sure of proper music theory part writing (yet) but I do have a great time singing as an alto in our treble choir with Dr Rhodes, cracking jokes, and working with my applied teacher Mrs. Schultz.
We appreciate all of your support!
