My Travel Story

We are a retired couple that just loves traveling. So, we packed up our house in 2020 and moved into our motorhome with our 2 dogs.
Despite Covid restrictions in various countries we have made it to Kigali in Rwanda. A journey of 12000+ kilometres to date. 
On the way we have seen the most amazing sights. The mighty Zambezi and Kafue rivers in Zambia, waterfalls and Lake Tanganyika. The 2nd biggest freshwater lake by volume in the world!
Now we are in Rwanda where only freight transport across land borders is allowed but using our good looks and techniques of persuasion we were kindly admitted at the Rusumo border post. 
We have seen no other tourists although international flights into Kigali are allowed.
Seeing gorillas in their natural habitat is apparently a life changing experience but at $1500 per person it is far above our available budget. That is our total expenses for at least 3 months.
This is a travel adventure trip.  We were tired of all the Covid restrictions and we want to explore the world while we can.  The word 'impossible' does not exist for us.  Entering this or that country is 'impossible'.  Driving on those roads are 'impossible'.  Too much 'danger' will make it 'impossible'.  Everything is possible in our opinion and there is no turning back.
We always wanted to travel in Iran, so that is our first 'milestone'.  However, our road trip from South Africa will take us through many African and Middle Eastern countries before we get to Iran.
From Iran our next major milestone will be St. Petersburg in Russia.  From there, for a break from the vehicle, we will travel on the Trans-Siberian express, hopefully.  
That will be the fulfilment of such a dream that if life ends for me right then, life would have been complete.
However, that is but the start of our next adventure.  Spain and Morocco.  
Let me add more to that dream, once we wake up from this dream.

    Rwanda
    Arriving at the Rusumo border we were told that the border is closed to all but cargo.
    Rwandan authorities were kind enough to eventually allow us in. Thanks very much!
