Hallo! Ich bin Dmitri und studiere Umwelt und Deutsch! Ich würde gerne nach Deutschland gehen! That means, "Hello! I'm Dmitri and I'm studying the environment and German! I would love to go to Germany!" I am currently in my Junior year, second semester of studying to major in sustainability studies and minor in German. This semester I was presented with the opportunity to take a study-abroad trip to Germany at the end of May. Specifically, we will be visiting Berlin and South Bend Indiana's sister city Arzberg. To be able to go on this trip would be a life-changing experience for me and I've been doing everything I can to ensure I take this opportunity. There are countless testimonies on why traveling abroad is an eye-opening experience, but beyond just that, this trip will also count for 3 credits towards my minor in German. In addition to giving me credits, going to Germany would be an invaluable experience in understanding German culture firsthand, and developing my linguistic ability. Germany is also a leader in environmental issues and being able to see how their society functions differently from ours and what they do to maintain their leadership in environmental causes will help me develop my skills professionally as the next generation of environmental leaders and add value to my studies as a sustainability major. I hope that this helps you understand why this trip is so important to me and helps explain why I've created this campaign. The cost that I need to pay to the school for the trip is roughly $3,000 which includes a place to stay and breakfast for the duration of the visit. That leaves lunch and dinner and any other things I may need while I'm there up to me which could include toiletries, hygiene products, transportation fees, etc. After talking with my professor, I have estimated that I will need between $3,500-$4,000 in total between the cost to the school and everything extra I need to cover. So far I have managed to save up just under $2,500 with roughly two months until I leave. I am asking you to help me reach my total. This is not just an investment for a fun trip to Germany, but an investment in my future and development as a person and in my career and I hope you see the same value in this that I do! Absolutely anything helps. Thank you for taking the time to read my campaign.
