I’m raising funds to attend the USITT Conference, the national conference for theatre and live event technology. USITT brings together working professionals, educators, and manufacturers to focus on real-world training in sound, systems, and production workflows.

I’m early in my career as a live sound and theatre technician, and opportunities like this are critical for building long-term skills the right way. This conference isn’t just panels and networking. It includes hands-on professional development workshops, technical training, and direct access to people and companies actively shaping the industry.

Attending USITT will allow me to deepen my knowledge in areas like audio systems, wireless coordination, and production best practices, while also connecting with professionals who are doing this work at a high level every day. That kind of exposure and learning is difficult to replicate locally and has a lasting impact far beyond the conference itself.

The knowledge and experience I gain won’t stop with me. I plan to bring what I learn back into the local arts and live events community through better practices, shared resources, and mentoring other early-career technicians. Strong technical skills help raise the quality, safety, and reliability of live events for everyone involved.

I chose this destination because USITT is widely recognized as one of the most valuable professional development opportunities in theatre and live event technology. It’s an investment in education, growth, and long-term career sustainability.

I’m covering as much of the cost as I can personally. Any support helps close the remaining gap and directly contributes to professional training that will have ongoing community benefit.

This trip is being pursued independently and is not affiliated with or funded by ECSD. Any skills or training gained would simply carry over into my professional work.

If I’m unable to attend USITT due to funding, all contributions will be used for alternative professional development and training in live sound and theatre technology.
