My Dream to Study Psychology and Social Work at the University of Michigan

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been deeply fascinated by the way people think, feel, and interact with the world around them. This curiosity has fueled my dream of majoring in Psychology and Social Work, so that I can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Growing up in a family of nine, I’ve always been surrounded by a diverse range of personalities and experiences. It’s from this environment that I’ve learned the value of compassion, understanding, and the importance of mental health—experiences that have shaped my desire to help others.

The University of Michigan has long been my dream school. Its outstanding Psychology program, coupled with a commitment to research and social service, makes it the perfect place for me to grow both academically and personally. I see this trip as an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in both the academic and cultural aspects of Michigan, while learning firsthand how the field of psychology intersects with social work. It’s not just a trip; it’s a chance to take a step closer to my career and to understand how I can make a lasting difference in my community and beyond.

As much as I am excited about this opportunity, I am also mindful of the financial challenge. Coming from a large family, resources can be tight, but I’m determined to pursue this dream, no matter the obstacles. I believe that investing in my education is an investment in the well-being of everyone around me, and I’m ready to work hard to make this dream a reality.

This trip would not only help me grow academically, but it would also deepen my commitment to becoming a resource for others, especially those who need support the most. I am eager to take every opportunity to learn and to eventually give back to my community by helping those in need through both psychology and social work.
