My Travel Story

Hi everyone! My name is Heidi, I am 25 years old and I have an affinity for traveling. However it's very difficult for me to travel due to financial difficulties. I received the short end of the stick to most situations but I try to make the best out of it. My mom was on the brink of losing her house and I couldn't let that happen. It is her safe haven and everything she has worked for in life is for the place she calls home. However, I have been sacrificing my own wants and needs to make sure she can have hers. We are doing better now, but I cannot afford to miss days of work at a time since she relies on me to make ends meet. I have started saving for the trip but I seems one thing or another happens and I have to dig into the vacation fund. I would like to go to greece for a week and I need help getting funds for flight, hotel, food and work week. I know its alot but even if it's small it helps toward my dream.

Since I was a little girl I use to look at pictures of foreign countries and wonder what it would be like to visit places like Athens, Rome, Egypt, Mayan temples, etc. I was lucky right out of high school to visit Chichen Itza, it was wonderful and left me mesmerized. I had a true connection to this place because it's part of my roots and it was part of my dad's history. I know traveling does not come cheap and one of the ways I figured best way to travel for cheap is simply at home. By cooking foods or watching documentaries of the places I want to visit I was able to get a taste of the world. However I want to actually experience it.  

For years I have wanted to go to Athens, Greece and see how one of the oldest civilizations brought forth the modern one. I want to see how the people of today are influenced by the cultures of the past. I want to experience the food and the sights. Most of all I want to experience the ability to travel for the sake of personal gain. I truly believe that if I can make this happen, it will change my life for the better. Some time ago I did one of those DNA test and actually found out that I have some Greek and Italian blood within me. I thought this was fascinating because I have so much curiosity about their cultures and food. It would be wonderful if I had the opportunity to visit either one of these places, just like I had the ability to visit Chichen Itza. Please help me achieve my dream!
