My Travel Story
Hi, my name is Latoya, and I am reaching out for support to make a long-time dream come true—traveling beyond my hometown and experiencing the world for the first time.
I have been a single mom for 10 years, dedicating my life to raising my children and ensuring they have everything they need. Because of this, I haven’t had the time or financial ability to travel. I haven’t been out of the country, and the few times I’ve left Richmond, VA, have been for necessities, not for exploration or enjoyment. I also haven’t been able to visit my family in South Carolina, despite wanting to reconnect with them.
While I love my role as a mother, I have often found myself listening to my friends talk about their vacations while feeling like I have missed out on those experiences. I am almost 50 years old, and I haven’t truly lived. I want to see the world, experience new cultures, and finally create memories for myself.
Why This Trip is Important to Me
This isn’t just about a vacation—it’s about finally stepping outside of my everyday life and experiencing the world in a way I never have before. I carefully chose destinations outside of South Carolina that I have never been to because I want to see places beyond what I’ve always known. I have spent years making sacrifices for my children, and now, I want to do something meaningful for myself.
This trip represents freedom, new beginnings, and finally allowing myself to explore. It is an opportunity to see the world with my own eyes instead of through stories from others.
