Volunteer Healthcare Project in the Phillipines
My Travel Story
After my 3 years of studies in my Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Alberta, I have decided to use the knowledge and expereince I have gained to help those in need at an international level. In the Phillipines there is a lack of funding, infrastructure, limited access to health care services aswell as a shortage of health care professionals.
In this project, I will be helping support Fillipino healthcare systems through providing education on general health, performing routine check ups, treating minor injuries and wounds and assisting in outreach medical camps for babies and elderly.
In this experience I hope to learn more about Fillipino culture and the differences in health care systems. I am honoured to support the local healthcare staff, and be able to provide compassionate, quality care to the residents of the Phillipines.
