My Travel Story

by: NIgel Cowell-Clark Start Date: May 7, 2017 - End Date: Sep 6, 2017

I am a 13 year old student at the Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and I am writing to ask if you would be willing to help support  me to go on a cultural exchange visit to China in October.

Our school runs an annual trip to China and this year will focus on a cultural exchange involving drama and performance. Our school will perform to Chinese students and they will then perform to us. We will also spend time visiting some of the cultural highlights of the country such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Olympic Birds Nest Stadium.

This trip means much more to us than simply an opportunity to perform abroad. It will enrich our lives expanding our horizons about different cultures, honing our social and interactive skills, developing our confidence and is a once-in-a-lifetime trip that we will all cherish forever.  We will also be bringing the skills learnt back to our respective dance schools further enriching their cultural knowledge.

I love dance and am a member of DeBurnays Dance Academy and am currently studying for my grade 5 LAMDA certificate. The opportunity to showcase my passion for dance abroad would be an absolute dream.

The total cost of the trip per person is £2140 and I have raised £950 already with a further fundraiser planned where I will lead a one hour dance class at my dance school with those attending paying a small fee to take part.

If you can offer any financial support – no matter how small – I would be very grateful. Alternatively, if you could contribute a prize that I might be able to auction that would also be appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and for considering offering me support for what will be the trip of a lifetime.

Yours sincerely,

Felicity Cowell-Clark
