This is an exceptional program and opportunity for me to study and do field work in Baja California Sur, Mexico during spring break March 2023. I am a Biological studies major at ASU. My emphasis is Ecology and Conservation Biology. This will impact my education by giving me hands on expereince in the field of conservation in Mexico and Baja California. Mexico has a model system to study emerging topics in marine conservation. We will be examining the relationships between marine megafauna (sea turtles, whale sharks, and sea lions), small-scale fisheries, and coastal communities. It will focus on the integration of science, practice, socioeconomics, and culture in the context of marine and fisheries conservation. I am passionate about these topics! I will get to study marine life, ecology and conservation, ecotourism, the ecological and socioeconomic sustainability of fisheries, community-based conservation, and emerging conservation technologies. I am hoping to find a career helping conserve marine life and our oceans. I choose this destinatin because whale sharks and sea turtles are amazing, and this is a great opportunity for me to learn.
