My Travel Story

by: Ellie Moore Start Date: Nov 20, 2017 - End Date: Jun 19, 2018
In June 2018 I will be travelling to Western Cape in South Africa where I will be a Research Assisstant on Gondwana Game Reserve for 4 weeks.
As part of my trip I will get to help with surveys based on browsing usage by elephants and rhinos, as well as population estimates of large herbivore species.
All of the research carried out will help to manage the needs of large mammal species and the protection of the diverse habitat in the reserve.
Working with African Elephants has been a dream of mine for a very long time, and I am beyond excited to be carrying out this research project next summer and helping to make a real positive conservation impact on the African ecosystem. Doing this will hep to give me so many new skills and knowledge which will help me to reach my goal of studying African Elephants once I graduate University which is so exciting for me!!
