My Travel Story

by: Jazz Christiansen Start Date: Oct 8, 2016 - End Date: Apr 7, 2017
Hi! For those who don’t know me my name is Jazz  and

“I want to change the world through my photographs”

Yeah, a 23 year old Queensland chick is going to jump on a plane, fly to third world countries, Start taking photographs send them off and the world will start to improve! With that there is much that goes on in the world that we are unaware of, What The media doesn’t show us, That the government hides and the authority avoids, so hopefully with my efforts, People will become kinder and more caring and The government will start to become more accountable for their actions& ignorance. Sounds great right?  That’s what I hope to achieve through volunteering.

What I want to achieve might seem like a long shot to most, but it’s my life’s mission to play a part in changing the worlds of people who have had a rough go of this crazy adventure we call life.

My aim is to help however possible. From volunteering, being a shoulder to lean on or simply just sharing my positive outlook on life with people, even if I just change the life of one person my heart will be full.

Some might ask if 23 is too young to travel to a third world country and experience everything that I am going to? I believe the younger the better, the more time I have to make an impact.

Through my life so far and with the help of many people that have crossed my path, I have learnt that life is too short to wait around; you need to jump in with both feet and believe anything is possible, especially with the kindness of strangers.

So with that

My role will be to assist with rebuilding efforts (after the 2015 earthquake) in a village called Mankhu, as well as assisting at the local school.

Furthermore, much of this project is based on volunteering in the orphanage’s being a friend, teacher and idol for the kids and also empowering local women, who have been subject to domestic abuse or have been ostracised by communities.

I am raising money to take supplies over with me such as pencils, pens and paper for the kids, and so that I can stay longer than the 4 weeks I have been blesses with. I’m going there to help and the longer I am there the better!
