Studying Abroad: Osaka, Japan
My Travel Story
Japan has a truly unique culture; no where else in the world comes close. The people are known for their courtesy, kindness, hospitality, and respect. The country thrives with gorgeous scenery, fascinating history, enchanting art, and food exclusive to Japan. I have set up an Instagram page and a YouTube channel to post photo and video updates throughout my stay! You can find me on Instagram @osaka_abroad_summer2020, and on YouTube here.
I've chosen to stay with a host family for my time in Osaka. I made this decision in order to encourage myself to learn Japanese language faster and retain the language better as I will be in a household that requires me to do so. Additionally, I will get to experience the subtleties of Japanese culture that I would likely miss if I stayed in a dorm surrounded by other international students. My goal with this trip is to obtain a view of the world I otherwise never would have known, and to grow my appreciation and understanding of people who live differently from myself. Often times, I feel we as people get bogged down in the bubble of our own little corners of the Earth, but there is so much else to appreciate and explore and learn as I get the privilege to experience a bubble so unlike my own.
Barely 3 months ago I never would have believed any of this possible, but now the chance to make a childhood dream come true is within my reach! I will be keeping my online profiles updated throughout the trip with my experiences abroad so that everyone can enjoy the trip of a lifetime with me, and perhaps gain some helpful advice if they decide to travel abroad to Osaka for themselves. I look forward to all the friendships ahead and the adventures we will have together throughout my stay!

Please Pass The Bowl
Hey everyone! ?>
I'm in the process of applying for a ton of scholarships, but there is no guarantee I'll get them as most of these are competitive and have lots of applicants! If you know of any grants or scholarships I should look into let me know!
It would be a huge help if every person I knew donated even just a little! Every dollar counts and when you do the math it all adds up quick!
If you can't spare any I understand, but all I ask is you pass the bowl! Share my story as far and wide as you can.
Thank you so much for all the support!
