The opportunity to study abroad in Ireland will expand my education in a way that my American University can not. Intercultural competence is essential to my future career in Business Administration because a strong understanding of other people’s cultures allows me to fully understand and appreciate my future employees. The best way to achieve intercultural competence is by immersing myself in an entirely different environment. Moreover, I chose Ireland because I recently discovered that most of my maternal ancestors immigrated to America from Ireland. Because my mother's family remains a mystery to me, I feel it is important to connect to my heritage in other ways.
