My Travel Story

by: Cary Wall Start Date: Sep 1, 2017 - End Date: Oct 15, 2017
This is my first year at Florida State University (although I am technically a sophomore, thanks to my accumulated credits prior to entering college) and I am looking to study abroad in the beautiful and culturally rich Valencia, Spain! Naturally, this is not an easy price to pay. My Bright Futures scholarship doesn't even cover a third of the expenses ($12,995 in total and not including airfare, food, or books).

I am majoring in International Affairs, with the intent of pursuing a career in the non-profit sector. The Valencia program offers a myriad of courses to enrich and propel me into this field of study, however I cannot do it on my scholarship alone. The program begins January 4th and ends April 19th, and includes up to 16 credit hours and a 10 day personal excursion to visit neighboring cities and countries.

A little about me: I have been passionate about seeing and studying the world since I can remember. I held an internship and a position as an AmeriCorps VISTA at a local non-profit in my high school days, which only fueled my partiality further towards the non-profit sector career. I was in the International Baccalaureate Program in high school, and am now in the Honors Program at Florida State University (go noles!)

I am ecstatic about this wonderful opportunity, as are my friends and family. I hope to travel abroad as much as I can (while I still can) in order to gain a global perspective and incorporate into my studies, career, and personal life.

Thanks so much!
