My Travel Story

Hello everyone!

My name is Landon Dollar(that's me on the far right) and I am a student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. I am a Russian Foreign Language Major with a minor in Linguistics. It has always been a dream of mine to fully immerse myself in a country to be able to learn as much as possible about the language, culture, and people. When I grauduate, I hope to be working at an embassy overseas or as a linguist. For my study abroad trip, I will be travelling to Kyiv, Ukraine to study in a program called, “Russian as a Second Language.” While in Kyiv, I will be living with a host family and studying at the NovaMova Language School. One of the goals of the program is to completely immerse oneself in the language by living with a host family and in the city of Kyiv. This will be a completely new experience for me, but I am excited for the opportunity to go abroad, improve my Russian speaking capabilities, and learn another culture. I will be attending the school for 6 weeks from July 5 to August 15. Most of the classes will be in person but some will also be online since it is a hybrid program.
