Financial Hardship, My Last Hurrah ...
My Travel Story
On August 18, 2022, I suffered a stroke which left me in a bad way and unable to work. This stroke changed everything about my life.I also have spinal stenosis which makes walking a bit challenging. I have never been a drinker or used drugs, however I did take the first two covid shots so I could travel to see and help my oldest grandson get settled in with his military father in Okinawa Japan. My rent has gradually increased from $975 to $1500 per month. My social security (my only income) is $1921.80 per month. As the numbers reflect there is not much left for lights, gas, internet, and food. I have decided it would be best for me to relocate to a more affordable country to live out my remaining days. Being partial to southeast Asia the only country affordable in the top ten according to international living is Thailand. I do have a friend who lives there in a small village, and I plan to spend some time there to see if this village is a good fit for me or search in another area of the country . I would like to make the trip at the beginning of September to begin the Thailand retirement paperwork and sort out my living situation, then make the move permanent by December. I have been selling everything I have accumulated over the years to make ends meet.
My goal is to become self sufficient moving forward, I am struggling to not be a burden to anyone if possible, however, any help would be greatly appreciated, and I promise to be a good steward of the help that I get.
Sincerely,
Jack
