My Travel Story

by: Bryana Scott Start Date: Nov 23, 2025 - End Date: Aug 2, 2026
Hi! My name is Bryana and I am very excited to share that I will be raising funds to study abroad in Japan at Meiji Gakuin University! (September 2026-August 2027). This has been my dream since high school, to live, learn and grow in a place I've admired for awhile.

I haven't travled much, but the one time I flew from Florida to California, everything changed. I absolutely loved the thrill of being somewhere comepletely different and seeing how others lived in ways I'd never experience before. That feeling made me think: if I loved this so much, why not go somewhere even farther, and actually study instead of just visiting?

Japan had became my dream destination because of all the videos I saw online: the culture, the food, the way people interacted, the festivals, the dailly life that felt so different from the US. It made me curious, inspired. And eventually, it made me determined to go experience it for myself, not as a tourist for a few days, but as a student living there for a year.

Back then, it felt impossible, I was still a minor, I didn't have the resources, nor as much freedeom to pursue something so big. But now that I'm 19 and in college, i finally have the chance to make my own decisions, create my own path, and build the future I always imagined for myself.

This study aborad program at Meiji Gaukin University will allow me to:
  • immerse myself in a new culture
  • learn Japanese through real daily experience
  • take classes that expand my worldview
  • build independence and responsibility
  • grow academically, mentally, and personally
  • and show my parents, and myself, that I'm capable of doing something big on my own.
I'm working hard, saving money, and doing everything I can to make this possible, but a full academic year abroad is expensive, and I can't do it alone. Your support would help cover the cost of:
  • flights
  • housing
  • transportation
  • students visa fees
  • school-related expenses
  • and emergency funds for the year
Any amount helps, truly. Even a small donation brings me one step closer to a dream I've held onto for years. Thank you so much for reading, supporting, sharing or even just cheering me on. It means the world to me.

Let's make Japan 2026-2027 happen!
