Hi everyone! My name is Jonathan Johnson, and I’m currently a sophomore at Georgia Gwinnett College pursuing a degree in Political Science. My ultimate goal is to work with global organizations such as UNICEF, the United Nations, or the World Bank, institutions dedicated to improving lives and uplifting communities worldwide. At my core, I’m passionate about community outreach and global volunteerism, and I believe education and service go hand in hand.

My journey to study abroad has been anything but easy to say the least. However after facing several setbacks, I was thrilled to be accepted earlier this spring into CIEE’s Internship Plus Study Abroad program in New Zealand. Unfortunately, the program was canceled shortly after, which was heartbreaking. But I didn’t give up. During the summer, I worked for a wonderful organization called Just People, where I supported and built meaningful relationships with individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. That experience changed my perspective on life and deepened my passion for service, empathy, and inclusion.

Now, I’m proud to share that I’ve been accepted once again—this time to CIEE’s Open Campus Block program in New Zealand for Spring 2026! This incredible opportunity will allow me to continue my academic studies while also participating in a service-learning project focused on community engagement and social impact. this is more than just studying abroad but it’s a chance to grow as a leader, forge connection with diverse communities, and bring what lessons I'll learn back home to make a difference.

However, this journey will comes with financial challenges. While my family has been supportive in every way possible, the costs of program fees, airfare, visa expenses, and materials are significant. I’m asking for your help—whether through a donation, sharing my page, or simply offering words of encouragement. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to this life-changing experience.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for believing in my dream. Your generosity will not only help fund my education but also empower me to continue serving others with compassion and purpose.
