Hello Eveyone, my name is Kayla Jenkins and this Summer I have been accepted into my Study Abraod program. A little bit about me is I am a Biomedical Science major with a minor in Speech and Hearing Science with a concertation in Pre-Health. The reason why I am studying aboard is to be able to see different sides of the country that I would not to be able to do on my own and be too able to learn more about medicine. I am on my second kidney transplant and with that I take immunosuppressant medication. I am interested in the beginning of science and how medicine has evolved. In the program I am involved with we will be learning about the history of science and how different principles used in the past helped shape the future of medicine today. Being able to be a part of this program will help give insight on my future career. This program involves both history and science, which in the curriculum taught now is not touch based enough, and it is important to know the background how contributions to science helped found the techniques that are practiced today. I hope to gain new experiences about traveling and the opportunity to connect with people who are different from me. I enjoy learning from others and having the opportunity to be part of this program allows me to grow in my education and build stronger connections to those around me.
