Desde 2015 inicié por interés propio a investigar sobre la policía, aunque de más joven ya tenía atracción por temas como poder, gobierno, democracia, paz y por supuesto Derechos Humanos.

He estado trabajando sobre la policía de manera más formal en el Centro de Amigos para la Paz, donde con otras personas miembras fundamos la Comisión contra la militarización en Costa Rica; luego fortalecí el estudio al ingresar a la Universidad de Costa Rica.

Para seguir avanzando en la investigación me es imperativa la participación en este Congreso de Sociología, que es el más importante de la región y donde convergerán colegas que estudian temáticas relacionadas, específicamente en el Grupo de Trabajo 21 "Corrupción, Violencia Social, Seguridad y Defensa"; dándose cita en un país que por su historia de represión policial (abusos de autoridad, desapariciones forzadas) y como uno de los nortes de las políticas nacionales de Costa Rica, lo hace punto clave de intercambio de experiencias y conocimientos.
Es por lo anterior que agradezco su colaboración pues el deseo final y meta es que mi investigación funcione a favor de la lucha de los Derechos Humanos.

Since 2015 I started researching on the police out of my own interest, although when I was younger I was already attracted to topics such as power, government, democracy, peace and of course Human Rights.
I have been working on the police in a more formal way at the Friends Center for Peace, where with other members we founded the Commission against militarization in Costa Rica; then I strengthened the study when I entered the University of Costa Rica.
To continue advancing in my research, it is imperative for me to participate in this Congress of Sociology, which is the most important in the region and where colleagues who study related topics will converge, specifically in Working Group 21 "Corruption, Social Violence, Security and Defense"; meeting in a country that for its history of police repression (abuses of authority, forced disappearances) and as one of the nortes of the national policies of Costa Rica, makes it a key point of exchange of experiences and knowledge.
It is for this reason that I thank you for your collaboration, since the ultimate desire and goal is that my research works in favor of the struggle for Human Rights.
