The smart cities program in Amsterdam offers a dynamic focus on STEM, which perfectly aligns with both my interests and the location. As a historical European city, Amsterdam not only offers many historical sites but is also renowned for their innovative initiatives to create a clean city. This study opportunity will expose me to technology in urban development and help foster a better understanding of the role of technology and engineering in city design. 

As a long-time resident of New York City, I’ve come to realize the city's struggles of a clean transformation. It seems that as time progresses, the city is becoming increasingly loud and dirty. I hope to use the knowledge and the ideas learned from Smart Cities in Amsterdam to create an impact on my home city New York. I believe that the program’s focus on sustainable city development is perfect for my future goals to change my city for the better.
