My Travel Story

I am volunteering at the Phinda Wildlife Research Project in South Africa in October 2018 for two weeks.
I have chosen to do this because I am very passionate about animals and want to help make a difference for their future.

On this project I will be getting involved in -

- Working alongside the conservation research team
- Helping to develop a detailed population database
- Be involved in white and black rhino monitoring
- Conduct behavioural studies on population dynamics of predator populations
- Focus work on lion and cheetah movements and management
- Assist with elephant population monitoring
- Learn about the intricate research and planning involved in managing a wildlife reserve

I am very passionate about helping and caring for these beautiful animals as too many of them are vulnerable to extinction from poaching and trophy hunting. The Phinda reserve managment team rely on this wildlife research to ensure the animal populations are balanced and protected.

I feel taking part in this project will provide me with a life changing experience and an amazing opportunity to get involved in conservation work. It has always been my dream to see these amazing animals in their natural environment and to be able to help their futures if even only in a small way.

If you are able to donate to this amazing project I would be extremely grateful. Your money will make such a difference to the future of these incredible animals which is very important to me.

I am completing an animal management course and working two jobs at the moment so I am saving as much money as I can and hopefully with your help I will be able to raise the rest.
I will be taking part in lots of fund raising events throughtout the months leading up to my trip to raise more funds and I will keep you posted.

  • 6 Months To Go!

    6 months to go!
    I now have received 10 donations and have rasied £155 which is amazing! Thank you to everyone who has donated to this project and who has shared my page it really means so much to me. 6 months to go until I get out there and experience the beauty of Africa and will be part of an amazing conservation team helping the game keepers with there fantastic work to protect and look after endangered animals who I do not want to lose. Extinction is forever. Thank you again everyone. I can't wait to get out there. Jess x
