Build Abroad is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to build and repair communities in developing countries by providing socially conscious construction volunteering. I will be volunteering with them for three weeks this September in Nepal. As an architecture student I have spent most of this year designing structures, so I’ve decided to volunteer some of my time to actual construction! Since the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015 amazing disaster relief work has been carried out, but now long-term development is needed - particularly in the remote villages where we will be using earthbag technology to help rebuild communities. Earthbags are extremely sustainable, affordable and use local materials while offering a structurally sound building technique.

In order to improve my fitness (to endure three weeks of manual labour) and raise funds for the Earthbag project, I am training to cycle around the Isle of Wight in a day with my brother (date to be confirmed). It is about 80 miles of very hilly roads so yeh, please sponsor me! Any sponsorship will make a difference to someone in Nepal by enabling volunteers to help them - and will make my cycle worth it!! I will be very grateful for even the smallest donation.

Donating through FundMyTravel is totally secure. All donations received will go to the Nepal Earthbag Project.

Thank you!!
