My Travel Story

I am a sophomore Material Science Engineering student at Purdue University. As a first generation college student I have the opportunity to travel to Heredia, Costa Rica with our student support services. We will be studying global leadership abroad which I believe is an essential pillar of learning for my career ambitions working in industry as a professional engineer. Additionally, I have the opportunity to travel to Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France to study gender in the world. The Purdue Women in Engineering program is offering this course and experiential learning experience to travel to Europe and learn how gender dynamics may differ outside of the United States. I think as a female engineering student it is important to learn how biases can impact companies, employees, and learn to create an inclusive environment. Both of these experiences are meaningful for me because as a young professional I would like to take every opportunity I can to network and develop my career and life skills.
