Studying abroad as a college sophomore will significantly shape my medical education by exposing me early to diverse healthcare systems and patient populations. Learning in Canada, New Zealand, and the UK will strengthen my clinical perspective, cultural competence, and understanding of evidence-based, patient-centered care skills that will guide the rest of my training.


I plan to bring these insights back to my community by advocating for equitable, culturally responsive healthcare and sharing global best practices through student organizations and community outreach. My goal is to help improve access, prevention, and patient education, especially in underserved populations.

I am passionate about this opportunity because I believe effective healthcare requires both scientific knowledge and global awareness. Understanding how different systems care for their populations will help me become a more empathetic and informed future physician.

These destinations are meaningful to me because they prioritize universal access, preventive care, and community-based medicine. Learning within these systems will allow me to compare approaches to care and apply those lessons to make a lasting impact at home.
