My Travel Story

My name is Richmond, and I am a young black 21 years old who has a dream and would like to accomplish it.
I have received a conditional offer which turned into an unconditional offer to study Accounting and Finance at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have already accomplished more than the grades which they acquire. I attained D*D*D* (equivalent to A*A*A*) in Business and IT.

However, I am in the position where due to my circumstances I cannot attend to this university. I have been living in the UK for the past 4 years, after moving from Spain. Unfortunately, I cannot attend to university due to not being classified as a migrant worker and being 21, I am not eligible for the maintenance loan/grant.

Moving to the UK has made me fall behind my studies. If I was in Spain, I would by now be finishing university. I have always been a scholarly person. When I moved to the UK, I couldn’t utter a word in English. I had to start all over again and with the sacrifice and all the hard work that I put into made me obtain and achieve the highest grade which I could I achieve.

Being the first born in the family and the first one to ever go to university is not easy. The reason why I have not given up is because, I have younger siblings who would like to follow my step.
As I know that my story is not distinctive, my dream of becoming an accountant is not just a social mobility for my family, but to encourage other people that with sacrifice and effort you can do anything. Additionally, this is to also make others not give on their dream as, everyone who game into this world have a purpose they would like to accomplish.
